Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
Supporters of Garfield Re-2 ("we," "us," or "our") is a registered Colorado issue committee organized as a 501(c)(4) and supporting Garfield School District Re-2 ballot measures 4A and 4B. This policy describes how we collect, use, protect, and disclose information through our website, campaign forms, community outreach, and political peer-to-peer text messaging program.
1. Information we collect
We may collect information that individuals voluntarily provide through our website or other campaign forms, including a name, email address, mailing address, mobile phone number, volunteer interests, and messages to the campaign. When an individual affirmatively agrees to receive texts, we may retain the consent disclosure, date, source, and related records. We may also collect message replies, delivery information, and opt-out requests.
Our contact records may also include publicly available voter-registration records and voter contact information lawfully obtained from election authorities or political data providers, including matched telephone numbers. These records are distinct from information voluntarily provided through our website. Individuals contacted using voter-registration or voter-file information have not necessarily opted in through our website, and a phone number in those records does not, by itself, establish SMS consent.
Our website and its service providers may process basic technical information, such as IP addresses, browser or device information, page requests, and server logs, to operate and secure the website. Where cookies or similar technologies are used, you may manage them through your browser settings.
2. How we use information
We use information for voter education, political advocacy, election and voting reminders, campaign communications about measures 4A and 4B, volunteer and event coordination, donation-related messages, responses to questions, administration of our website and messaging program, documentation of consent and opt-outs, and applicable reporting and recordkeeping obligations. Political outreach using voter-registration or voter-file information will be conducted in accordance with applicable federal and Colorado laws and our messaging providers' requirements; possession of that information is not represented as consent.
3. Mobile information and SMS consent
Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
We will not share text messaging originator opt-in data and consent, provided that the foregoing does not apply to sharing (1) with vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf (and who will not use such information for their own purposes); (2) if we believe disclosure is required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation or to comply with law enforcement or legal process; and (3) if the user consents to our sharing of such information.
We may provide the minimum information necessary to service providers that operate our messaging program on our behalf, including GetThru, telecommunications carriers, and technical support providers. They may process that information only to provide services to us, subject to applicable obligations, and not for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
4. Text messaging and your choices
Our text messages may include ballot-measure information, campaign updates, election reminders, volunteer opportunities, event information, requests for donations, links, and responses to questions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to receive texts is voluntary and is not a condition of donating, volunteering, or participating in campaign activities.
Providing a phone number, signing up to volunteer, or visiting our website does not automatically constitute SMS consent. Where consent is required, we request it separately through an affirmative signup or other documented opt-in method. We do not treat voter-file contact information as an SMS opt-in, and any voter-file outreach must meet applicable legal and provider requirements.
To stop texts: Reply STOP to a campaign text at any time. We honor opt-out requests and suppress the number from future campaign text messages; you may receive a final confirmation of your opt-out. You may also request removal by emailing us. For help: Reply HELP or contact friendsofgarfieldre2@gmail.com.
5. Other disclosures and service providers
We do not sell personal information. Authorized campaign personnel and volunteers may access information as needed to perform campaign duties. We may use providers for website hosting, forms, email, messaging, and other campaign operations, with access limited to the services they provide. We may disclose information when legally required, including required campaign-finance disclosures, or when necessary to address fraud, security threats, or protect legal rights. These disclosures do not permit independent marketing use of mobile information or SMS consent.
6. Retention and security
We retain information only as reasonably needed for campaign operations, legal and reporting obligations, resolving inquiries, and documenting consent. We may retain limited suppression records to ensure opted-out numbers are not contacted again, including after active outreach ends. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards and limit access to authorized people and providers. No system can guarantee complete security.
7. Requests and third-party websites
You may email us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you supplied, or to stop campaign communications. We will address requests subject to applicable law, identity verification where needed, and required record retention. Our website may link to outside websites or forms; their operators' privacy policies also apply to information they collect.
8. Updates and contact
We may update this policy by posting a revised version on our website with a new effective date. Changes do not create SMS consent or authorize new uses that require separate consent.
